Yes I do. With technology and the internet we can do Skype or Xoom training with you, remotely. The rates for Skype training is much cheaper because we don’t have to travel to you, we can do it remotely. We typically use this type of training with people we have worked with previously. We use this method to trouble shoot and help you reinforce the training for you and your dog. We will also send you videos via Youtube
We offer 4, 8, and 12 sessions packages for puppy and private dog training. Please check our packages for pricing.
Because we as humans, all come from different backgrounds, cultures, and points of view. It only makes sense that dogs approach life from the same perspective. There are many trainers who use this line of thinking when approaching dogs and their behaviors. This leads them to have some sort of (usually prefaced by positive) “philosophy” or “method” they invented. This actually makes complete sense to our human thought processes.(Even I wish dogs thought exactly like we did!) This requires a more involved approach based on energy, instinct, and communication. Not just treats or unnecessary force. Posistive reinforcement behavioral training is our approach.
I teach dog owners how to truly communicate with their pets. This is opposed to just “training” them. Which does not always tap into a dog’s natural instincts. This is needed to achieve contentment and good behavior in any dog, regardless of breed, age, or temperament. I can get your dog to behave and train them to your likes, but you as the student need to reinforce it when I am not around.
Jennifer believes in finding the most positive and effective methods possible to bring out the best in your individual dog. Therefore, all of Jennifer’s training techniques utilize the principles of reinforcement based training. Most people know this as reward based training vs. punishment or forced based training. The reason is simple. Reinforcement based training produces the most long lasting and reliable results. Jennifer is not a trainer who just jumped on the “positive dog training” band wagon a few years ago. Jennifer studied and practiced some of the more forceful “old world” training techniques in her early career. She discovered through her own experience that the conclusions behavioral scientists have made for decades are correct. Punishment or force based methods may appear to produce successful results; often more quickly than reinforcement based methods. However, punishment based techniques usually merely suppress undesired behavior. Too often behavioral issues will pop up again; sometimes with more difficult problems attached.
Jennifer offers practical and effective solutions to real world dog behavior issues for all types of dogs with all types of behavioral problems including all forms of shyness, fear, anxiety, aggression, over excitability/hyper and obsessive behaviors. Jennifer has used her expertise on dog behavior, animal training, learning theory and psychology to successfully help dog owners use the most effective, current, and scientifically based principles and techniques available.
A good trainer must have a solid understanding and continued education in dog ethology, veterinary animal behavior, cognitive, behavioral, and learning sciences. A good dog trainer not only has to have a solid understanding of dog behavior but human behavior as well. Jennifer believes a good dog trainer must also have extensive hands on experience applying that knowledge properly. It is one thing to have academic knowledge in these areas. However, no amount of reading can equal what one learns from actually working with people and their pets.
All of them! Regardless of age, breed, or temperament. Lease reactivity, separation and isolation anxiety, barking, aggressive dogs, dogs that jumps on you, and more.
Yes. Jen specializes in dogs who have worked, at times extensively with other trainers and behavior specialists. In most cases, these individuals see a noticeable improvement after a few lesson! Despite what results previous “experts” have shown or said about their dog in the past.
Absolutely! Even though dog aggression is a serious issue. It is unfortunately misunderstood by too many dog trainers. You will be amazed how quickly most dogs get over their insecurities once a proper relationship and structured lifestyle is established between dog and owner.
Quite the contrary! Most dogs who display behavioral issues (even extreme ones) are doing so because they are very intelligent and highly sensitive are simply not getting the appropriate outlets for their mental/physical energy or the structured life they require.
I always begin with our free an initial consultation at your home. This is a no-obligations 1 hour session for free. I do this so you may meet me and see results before we start working together. Because of the myriad of dog training styles available, plus nearly half of my new clients come from previously unsuccessful dog training, I want to make sure you see how I am different and can help before hiring me. Our initial consultation of course also gives me the opportunity to evaluate your dog and coordinate the right training program for his/her training and behavior needs.
The cost and length of dog training can vary. Most long term results can be achieved in 1-2 months. With noticeable improvements the very first session! Please call for a free telephone consultation or to schedule a free initial session with Jen Delatte. Our hourly rates is $80/hour, but we do have discounted packages for you can purchase.
The earlier the better! Good habits can be taught from day one. By creating a solid foundation and some basic life-skills from the start, you will ensure an optimal relationship between you and your pet that is problem free.
I work with dogs of any age, breed, or temperament. As long as the owner can be trained…any dog can be trained too! We train you and your dog, but you have to reinforce the training for it to work.
Once I teach owners to understand/communicate with their dogs in a natural way and provide a structured life that accommodates their individual needs. I have rarely seen a dog that requires medication. When I begin working with a “medicated” dog, I usually will ask the owner to slowly wean them off of the meds. This allows the dog to see reality from an unclouded and pure perspective. So we may communicate with them effectively. Many times dogs that has separation and isolation anxiety are put on anti-anxiety medication which they really don’t need.
I offer both group and individual training. Our relationship begins with an initial 1 hr consultation at your home or location where training is required. This includes a full consultation / behavior evaluation and your dog’s first training lesson.
I offer wide range of dog training programs and counseling options. All situations are unique and require varying training protocols. In our initial consultation I will evaluate your dog and recommend the best approach to address the needs of your pet and your family.
